Yorkshire Dales Training Voucher Scheme
Training for farmers is vital in cultivating a culture of safety on farms, fostering agricultural sustainability, productivity, and resilience. In the dynamic realm of agriculture, with additional challenges such as climate change and technological advancements, ensuring the safety of farmers is inseparable from optimising their practices.
The Farmer Network is an independent not-for-profit company providing help and support to farmers in Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales.
The Farmer Network has developed a £200 Training Voucher Scheme to help members afford the cost of technical training and certificates of competence. Member’s businesses are entitled to one voucher per year and are used for a wide range of training courses, but particularly for the safe use of pesticides, for driving a trailer on the road (B&E) and telehandler training. The scheme has previously funded courses on hosting educational visits and use of farm accounting software These certificates are legal requirements but are particularly expensive for smaller family farms to fund without financial assistance. The training vouchers are also used for a range of animal husbandry courses such as cattle Artificial Insemination and sheep shearing. The voucher scheme runs from 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2024.
