Drivers urged to get training to tow trailers safely

Drivers Urged to Get Training to Tow Trailers Safely!

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is now urging drivers who are planning to tow a trailer (or caravan) to take a training course before getting behind the wheel. In a recent article the DVSA highlighted the need for drivers to gain experience and key towing skills, before taking to the highways.  Baroness Vere, Minister for Roads, Buses and Places, said: "Towing safely is an important issue and I urge drivers to access the training to help keep Britain’s roads safe."

Accredited trailer towing courses are recommended for drivers:

  • towing for the first time
  • returning to towing after a break
  • towing larger trailers
  • refreshing and formalising skills if they already regularly tow
