The date for registering has now expired!!! In our Newsletter dated June 2010 we highlighted to all clients the need to re-register all trained operatives and supervisors under the ‘new scheme’ before 6th April 2011 otherwise they would have to be reasses
The deadline for the registration has now lapsed and old certification is no longer valid. Please visit swqr.org.uk for further information.
The New Roads and Street Works Act (1991) (NRSWA) ensures that works carried out by companies working on the public highway minimise the risk to the workforce and disruption to the travelling public.
This means that street works will be supervised by a qualified street works ‘supervisor’. In addition, whether the street is excavated or not, a ‘trained operative’, with an ‘operative’ qualification must be present on site at all times when the work is in progress.
If you are working or supervising works in the highway, you could be required to hold one or more of the Street Works qualifications, depending on your job role.
