HSE Changes to First Aid Training
From 1st of October 2009 The HSE is introducing new arrangments to the First Aid Training regime. Employers will be required to complete a risk assessment to decide how many First Aiders are required and the level of training they will need.
The Courses: -- EFAW Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day course)
- FAW First Aid at Work (3 day course)
Training Includes EFAW and also equips the first-aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illness.
On successful completion of an FAW or EFAW course, candidates will be issued with a certificate, which is valid for three years. All training must be certificated by an approved HSE training organisation.
Refresher: - (After three years)
- FAW – (2 days)
- EFAW – (1 day) to obtain a further three years certification.
