Chinese Whispers & Myths
Workers are banned from putting up Christmas Decorations in the office.
With the advancement of technology it only takes the flick of a switch to start a myth circulating. The recent festivities were no exception! It has been said that a number of companies were banning their staff from putting up Christmas decorations in their offices on the grounds of 'health & safety' rules and regulations or that this activity could only be undertaken by a 'qualified' person.
Most organisations, including local authorities and government offices, indeed manged this task, celebrating the spirit of the festival, without any undue concern or fuss. It is recommended that staff do employ the use of sensible equipment i.e. a step ladder rather than using the first thing that comes to hand (typically the vacant 5 wheeled office chair, unaided). Of course to further minimise the risk to life and limb you can always undertake a 'Safe Use of Ladders' course!
